About The Teachers

 

Jolie Bailey has been teaching piano for more than twenty years and brings a fresh approach to learning.  As the principal piano instructor at Jolie's Jukebox, she incorporates both traditional and improvisational methods into her curriculum.  Jolie received her bachelor's degree in sacred music and education in voice and piano from Massillon Baptist College and continued her studies in piano performance and pedagogical literature with Dr. Ruth Douds, Geneva College, for four years.  Jolie has been performing vocally since elementary school and has been serving as principal pianist in churches since high school.  Most recently Jolie served as the principal pianist at First Baptist Church in Frisco, TX, for more than a decade and has been active in the music program at Northside Baptist Church in Carrollton, TX for the last seven years.  Jolie served as the president of the Frisco Music Teachers Association from July 2013 through 2019 and currently serves the association as the immediate past president and treasurer.  She is also active in the Texas Music Teachers Association for Student Activities where she serves on the Ensemble Committee.


Selected FMTA Performance Events Available to Students


 Frisco Music Teachers Association Fall Festival of American Composers


Appropriate dress is suggested.  Performance times slots are assigned by the FMTA event Chairperson.  Teachers may trade performance time slots of equal minutes with their studio.  The event Chairperson must be notified in advance of the event date of such trades.  The arrangement of parents who are waiting, teachers, and students will be such that there is no contact between them after the student is seated waiting to perform.  Seating will take place in 30-minute increments, students must arrive 20 minutes before their performance time to check-in with the door monitor (An example:  Jane's playing time is 3:20.  She must arrive at the performance hall and be seated outside not later than 3:00.)  Students must wait with their parents after completing their performance, their music will be returned to them and they will be excused at that time.  Certificates and Ribbons will be distributed to the teachers after the completion of the festival.

 

             Theme:  Vocal entries must be an original piece (one) from a traditional musical style period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary).

                           All other instrumentations must be an original piece (one) written by a North American composer.

 

Frisco Music Teachers Association Winter Festival of Arrangements

              Theme:  This is a festival of arrangements, therefore appropriate music would be any arranged instrumental or vocal piece, of any variety.  This includes sacred music arrangements, patirotic arrangements and any printed music with "arr. by" on it.

 

Frisco Music Teachers Association Spring Festival of Classical Composers
